Tracy Reep, Army National Guard (Ret.), National Spokesman
As a commanding convoy operator of his patrol in Baghdad in November, 2003, Tracy was seated in the passenger seat of his vehicle when it was ambushed. The attack included improvised explosive devises, small-arms fire and a rocket-propelled grenade that seriously injured him. Tracy lost two fingers and his left eye in the attack.
When returning to civilian life, Tracy faced many difficulties getting back on his track with his career path. While convalescing in 2005, he decided to start Devoss, an online office supply company that employs injured veterans and their families. Today, the company has six employees and about $2.5 million in annual sales. Tracy was recently featured in articles in both The Houston Chronicle and BusinessWeek that discuss challenges injured soldiers, particularly those in the Reserves and National Guard, face when re-entering the workforce.
Today is greatest message is one of patience — with the recovery process, the paperwork, and the return to civilian life. He has been speaking publicly on behalf of the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes for over 2 years.
