Patrick Myers

Our Heroes

Lance Corporal Patrick Myers, United States Marine Corps (Ret.) was 21 years old when he was in Iraq near the Syrian border, and a road side bomb exploded under the Humvee he was driving. Shrapnel from an anti-tank mine severed both his legs above the knees, broke his back, and injured four other Marines.

After retuning stateside, Patrick faced a long recovery. Although his sweetheart, Desiree, was by his side, it was difficult for him to get around his home. Slightly before Patrick and Desiree were married, the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes gave the couple $20,000 for a down payment on a home modified for his injuries.

To show their gratitude, Patrick and Desiree joined the organization as National Spokespersons and are very involved in the Family Support Network, attending sporting events and concerts with other wounded heroes in their area.

"It is very difficult to return home with severe injuries and the added financial pressures are just as strenuous on a family. We are so thankful for the help the Coalition gave us as we were beginning our life together"," says Patrick. "To show our gratitude, we wanted to help spread the word about how the Coalition has helped us and thousands of other families. This is just a small way of giving back."
