Hy-Vee Raises $37,154 for Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes
Donations from customers across Midwest helps wounded war heroes rebuild their lives
Des Moines, IA - April 9, 2007 – Hy-Vee announced today that customers in Iowa,
Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota have raised $37,154 through a special promotion to help wounded service members from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom rebuild their lives. Today leaders from Hy-Vee proudly presented the check to representatives from the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (CSAH), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping recently injured troops and their families.
All proceeds go directly to helping needy wounded troops in the local Hy-Vee
communities.
Dan Vargas, Director of the Family Support Network for CSAH says, “Often times, the toughest battle for our wounded troops is the one they fight when they return home and must overcome lifechanging
sacrifices such as the loss of a limb, significant burns, and the reality of being
in a wheelchair. Thanks to Hy-Vee and their loyal customers who supported this program, the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes will be able to help these heroes across the Midwest to overcome these obstacles and resume a productive and fulfillinglife.”
Approximately 195 Hy-Vee stores across the Midwest and CSAH partnered for a
Veterans’ day promotion to raise funds and awareness for severely wounded and
disabled veterans from the War on Terror and their families. Hy-Vee customers bought hero bands at participating Hy-Vee locations for $2.00. These funds will be given to wounded veterans through a variety of CSAH programs.
“Hy-Vee thinks it is extremely important to support members of the armed forces who risk their lives to protect our values and freedom,” says Paula Correy, vice president of marketing. “We are honored and privileged to partner with CSAH in a program to help our American veterans.”
